Script for a Solo Trip

Boosting Confidence

Today I always travel with a script and creating them is downright fun. I use book art techniques and colorful materials. Many scripts have pockets for collecting ephemera such as ticket stubs, brochure maps, sketches and photographs. If I plan to return to a place, the collected information helps me navigate better.

Granted, solo travel is not for everyone. Some folks prefer to be in the company of others, which is lovely. But if you have always wanted to travel on your own, try it.

The most important thing to remember when writing a script for a solo trip is to do good research. Travelers, both experienced and novice, have written excellent books and internet articles to help you select the best hotels, stay safe, and stretch your wallet.

Creating a script organizes the research you find into manageable segments you can access when you need it. That is a real confidence booster. It gives you the feeling you know what you’re doing. And best of all, it inspires the confidence to ask a stranger a question when you need help. That’s a plus. It reminds you, you are never “all-by-yourself.”
